New Haven Association Supports Congregation Camp at Silver Lake

Congregation Camp Participants

Here is the Church.  Here is the Steeple. Open the Doors. And here's All the People!

Silver Lake Conference Center offered Congregation Camp--for the VERY FIRST TIME--this summer.  Congregations from the CT Conference were invited to send members and friends to come together, to think about about church life and our hopes for keeping our churches vibrant.  A 5th grader from West Haven, Rebecca, wrote: "We have been having fun at camp.  We had High Ropes, and I went swimming.  We also had worship and campfire with s'mores!  Camp is awesome."

Ethan, another 5th Grader, said, "I learned that when people help each other great things can happen!"

"Our Church is a place you can come and be yourself.  It doesn't matter what other church you've been to, or if you've never been to church at all.  You don't have to impress us with your clothes, your Bible knowledge, your voice, or your material possessions. We just want you to COME and listen for God to speak to you in this church building that we call 'home.'"

Erika from Norwalk wrote,"I have learned that the more we feel that we are all different we are actually the same. We all desire to have a close relationship with God.  We all want to spread peace and love. And we all want to make the world a better place today, tomorrow and into the future.  If we all work together towards this common goal as one people—we will get there. I also learned, when you are afraid and feel like you want to give up, if you look up to God and accept help and support from your church family, you can exceed your expectations and move past your fears to accomplish things you didn't think you could."
